What is Lion's Club?
The Lions Club International, established in 1917 by Melvin Jones in Chicago, is the world’s largest and most recognized service organization, with millions of members spread across more than 200 countries and geographic areas. Built on the guiding motto “We Serve,” the organization is dedicated to improving the lives of people globally through humanitarian service, community development, and the promotion of peace and international understanding. Lions Clubs focus on key global causes such as vision care and blindness prevention, hunger relief, childhood cancer support, diabetes awareness, environmental protection, and disaster assistance. Beyond these, local Lions Clubs also take up community-specific projects to address regional needs, ranging from education and healthcare to infrastructure and poverty alleviation. Membership is open to adults who wish to serve their communities, take on leadership roles, and be part of a vast global network of service-minded individuals. The name LEO itself stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity, reflecting the program’s mission to empower youth to grow into responsible leaders while addressing social challenges. Leo Clubs, which may be school-based, university-based, or community-based, carry out projects in areas such as education, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, social awareness, and support for disadvantaged groups. While each Leo Club operates with its own executive board and membership, every club is sponsored and guided by a Lions Club, ensuring mentorship, resources, and access to the global Lions network. The Leo Club of Colombo Knights, founded in 2013 and originally sponsored by the Lions Club of Colombo Midcity, is a distinguished youth service organization that now proudly operates under Leo District 306 D7, Sri Lanka. As part of the global network of Lions Clubs International, the club is deeply rooted in the values of Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity (LEO), which serve as guiding principles for its mission of empowering youth to become agents of positive change. Since its inception, the club has provided a dynamic platform for young individuals to develop leadership skills, engage in meaningful volunteerism, and contribute to both local and national development through a wide array of humanitarian and community-driven initiatives.
Over the years, the Leo Club of Colombo Knights has gained recognition for its innovative projects and impactful service, earning prestigious awards such as “Most Outstanding Omega Leo Club in Sri Lanka – 1st Runners Up” and “Most Outstanding Leo Club in Sri Lanka – 2nd Runners Up,” reflecting its commitment to excellence and teamwork. The club’s initiatives span across diverse areas, including education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment, often addressing pressing social issues while fostering inclusivity and collaboration. Every project is designed not only to serve immediate needs but also to create long-term, sustainable benefits for communities in need.

Our History
The Leo Club of Colombo Knights was established under the guidance of our parent organization, the Lions Club of Colombo Midcity. From the very beginning, our club has been dedicated to building strong young leaders and serving our community with passion and purpose.
We are proud to be an Omega Leo Club and one of the most recognized and active Leo Clubs in Sri Lanka, previously under Leo District 306C2.
Over the years, our club has built a strong reputation for impactful service projects, youth leadership, and being a true changemaker in society.
A New Chapter: Leo Club of Colombo Knights II
Thirteen Leostic years ago, a group of young and passionate leaders decided to give new energy and strength to the club. With their vision, the Leo Club of Colombo Knights II was born, a fresh start to continue the legacy with more power and purpose.
In 2025, we proudly celebrated our 14th Installation Ceremony as Leo Club of Colombo Knights II, marking more than a decade of renewed strength and service.
As of the Leostic Year 2025/26, our club is now a part of the newly formed Leo District 306D7, continuing our journey with new opportunities and greater responsibilities.
Our Purpose
We are here to build leaders, serve with heart, and raise champions. From kids to elders, from animals to nature, from villages to cities, from cities to nations, and from nations to the world, we support, uplift, and empower everyone. Because the next generation starts with you, and we are here to help you lead it.
